International AIDS Candle Light Memorial Day 2018 04 June, 2018

The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial takes place every third
Sunday of May around the world. Similarly, NAP+N had also organized 35 th
international AIDS candle light memorial day on 20 th may, 2018 on the ground
of central office of NAP+N (National Association of PLHA in Nepal) at
Samakhusi, Kathmandu.

The event started with lighting candles by all the members of NAP+N in the
memory of all PLHIV s and those who expired by AIDS. The president of
NAP+N Mr. Achyut Situala spoke a few words of condolence on the memory of
the sad demise of people expired by AIDS. The members of NAP+N expressed
grief by staying mourn (speechless) by closing their eyes for 1 minute in their
memory. Few members spoke on the sad demise of their friends and family
(PLHA) whereas others were looking highly spirited.

The ground of NAP+N was beautifully decorated with red ribbon. Thered
ribbon, as an awarenessribbon, is used as the symbol for the solidarity of
people living with HIV/AIDS.It is generally used to show support for the fight
against HIV/AIDS. It is also a symbol for stroke, heart disease, substance abuse
and complex regional pain syndrome, serves as an important intervention for
global solidarity, breaking down barriers of stigma and discrimination, and
giving hope to new generations.
